TikTok took the world like a storm in 2018, becoming the most downloaded app in Apple App Store. TikTok’s rise has seen many leaving other social media channels such as Instagram, Snap, and Facebook. People are also making money from TikTok. However, how much does TikTok pay per view?
In general, TikTok is estimated to pay around 2 to 4 cents per 1,000 views on a video. The money comes from the TikTok Creator Fund, which set aside $300 million to pay creators. Authenticity, engagement, and content amount also factor into how much creators get paid.
This post discusses how much TikTok pays for views, how much TikTokers get paid, and the other ways you can make money from TikTok.
How Much Do TikTok Pay?
On average, TikTokers get paid 2 to 4 cents per 1,000 views of a video. Factors such as engagement, authenticity, and content amount determine the final payment amount per view. Only those who applied and are accepted by the TikTok Creators Program are eligible to get paid.
TikTok launched the Creators Fund to encourage creative content creation, committing over $300 million. This allows people to create content in TikTok and get paid per view.
The program pays around 2 to 4 cents per 1,000 views. It may look minuscule at that amount, but when you calculate the amount in scale, you can see why people go crazy at it:
Say you created a video, and it generated one million views. You stand to make $20 to $40. If the video goes viral and garners 10 million views, that is a handsome $200 to $400 for you.
And the best thing is, there is no limit. You can create as many videos as you want, and if you have multiple videos that go viral, you stand to pocket more of the money.
However, not all are qualified for the TikTok Creators Fund, as you need to fulfill specific criteria before you can apply to join it:
- You need to be based in the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, or Italy
- You need to be at least the age of 18.
- Have at least 10,000 followings on your account.
- Generated 100,000 video views in the past 30 days.
- Have an account that does not violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms Of Service.
You can apply to be accepted into the Creator Fund through your TikTok pro/creator app. Navigate to Settings, and click on the ‘TikTok Creator Fund’ tab. If you fit the eligibility requirement, you should see an option to apply. Confirm that you are 18 and set to create and make money.
How Much Do Top TikTokers Make?
On average, the top 7 TikTokers in the US earn around $8 million. Some of the most successful TikTokers are Charli D’Amelio, Addison Rae, and Bella Poarch. They likely make their income from multiple sources, such as sponsored posts or views from TikTok Creators Fund.

Charli D’Amelio
Charli started as a competitive dancer, gaining followers from her dance clips. Her account has a whopping 141.1 million followers and is still growing. She has partnerships with brands such as Hollister, Procter & Gamble, and Dunkin Donuts.
Dixie D’Amelio
Dixie started off similarly to her younger sister, with a similar trajectory. She has fewer followers, only around 57 million, but she has seemed to branch into mainstream entertainment. She has released multiple singles, with one even featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa.
Addison Rae
Similar to Charli, she got her start creating short dance clips. Her account has over 90 million followers and billions of likes. She took a different pathway than Charli and Dixie, venturing into cosmetics by launching her own cosmetics company, Item Beauty.
Bella Poarch
Bella was a Navy veteran that served as a helicopter mechanic. She entered the world of TikTok almost accidentally, thanks to a lip-synch video she made in 2020 that went viral. Since then, she has partnered with the likes of Google, Prada, and Tinder.

How To Make Money From TikTok?
In general, there are six proven ways to make money from TikTok – brand partnerships, influencer partnerships, selling products, growing and selling themed accounts, consulting, and Creator Fund. The more reach you have, the higher these strategies will pay you.
Brand Partnerships
With this strategy, you partner with brands that are interested in working with you. Depending on the arrangement with the sponsors, you may be required to promote their products directly by creating unique TikTok videos.
You may also be indirectly promoting their brands. This is usually done by including the brand in your videos. For example, by going on a convoy biking trip sponsored by a motorcycle brand.
Influencer Partnerships
This strategy involves you partnering with another influencer. This strategy is commonly done to ‘bulk up’ the amount of reach from accounts from you and the other influencer, making negotiating better deals with advertisers easier.
You will be doing things similar to brand partnerships, but perhaps collaboratively. For example, you and another influencer work together on a mukbang live stream to promote a ramen company.
Selling Products
Another way to monetize your followers is by selling products directly to them. These products could be yours or from another company/person. Many successful TikTokers made high income doing live streams when they essentially demonstrated products and offered the product for online purchases.
Grow and Sell Accounts
Some TikTokers grow an account and then sell them for a profit later. These accounts are usually sought after by an organization, company, or personality that does not want to start from a brand new account.
These accounts are usually themed and not based on a personality. This allows another person, organization, or company to purchase and take over the account later.
Consulting
If you have prior success building TikTok accounts, you may offer yourself as a TikTok consultant. You may assist people aspiring for a career in TikTok to launch themselves. This means you may need to provide feedback to your clients, help them brainstorm ideas and create high-quality videos, and share strategies on how they can go viral. Corporations pay good money for a great consultant, as they usually want good results fast.
Creator Fund
The Creator Fund helps TikTokers focus on generating great content that gets views. They do not have to worry about slotting in things such as product placements. You get paid around 2-4 cents per 1,000 views, which could quickly transform into a handsome $200-$400 if your video goes viral and generates over 10 million views.
