Roronoa Zoro (or Solo by some English series), also known as Pirate Hunter Zoro, is a fictional character in Eiichiro Oda’s franchise “One Piece.”
Zoro is a strong-willed young man determined to be the greatest swordsman in his time and does all he can to achieve this goal.
He trains a lot, and when he fights, he goes for the strongest men to prove himself.
He is a master swordsman with a strong personality who gets admired by great swordsmen like Monkey D. Luffy and Dracule Mihawk.
After losing his childhood friend, Kuina, Zoro embarked on a mission to become the greatest swordsman.
How did Zoro lose his eye?
The reason why Zoro lost his eye is unknown. However, different people have made several speculations.
After a two-year gap, Zoro reappeared in the series with a long scar across his left eye.
The theory holds that Mihawk’s sword cut Zoro’s eye after Zoro had misjudged the sword’s direction during training.
This theory is the most accepted speculation.
Others believe that when Zoro purchased the cursed Sandai Kitetsu sword, the demons of the sword possessed him and lived in his left eye.
They refer to Rayleigh, who also owned a cursed sword and had a scar on his eye to bolster this opinion.
Lastly, some people think that Zoro’s condition is an eye technique engineered by Oda.
There is, however, no evidence to validate these speculations.

A Summary Of Zoro
Zoro appeared for the first time in chapter three of One Piece, 1997.
Having earlier lost his friend, he decided to become a master swordsman.
Zoro is kind and hates any form of oppression.
Zoro always wore a white shirt with three loose buttons, black trousers, and a green haramaki sash around his waist. The haramaki belt holds his three swords at the right side.
He always tied a black bandana on his left bicep. When in combat, he prefers to tie the bandana on his forehead.
He also wore three golden earrings on his left ear, representing his three fighting swords.
He always wielded these three swords, of which two are changed from time to time due to damage or breakage. The third – a Wado Ichimonji sword – is the only sword that remains constant.
He has many scars on his body from many fights. Some noticeable scars are on his left eye, across his left shoulder to his right hip, torso, and ankle.
He got the ankle scar when he’d tried to cut them off so he could escape from Mr 3’s Giant Candle Service Set.
Zoro lost his close friend Kuina and vowed to become the greatest swordsman. He trained a lot, starting as a pirate hunter so he could feed himself.
He later joins Luffy’s team, Straw Hat Pirates, after Luffy saved him from being executed by the Mariners.
He was always either asleep or in training. Soon, he became Luffy’s right-hand man and one of the top combatants of the crew.
He never stopped chasing his goal of being the world’s greatest swordsman. For this reason, he sought to defeat the greatest swordsman, Dracula Mihawk.
He eventually gets his fight with Mihawk. Mihawk, however, defeats Zoro and later accepts to train Zoro.
Zoro had a bounty of 320,000,000 placed on him after defeating Pica.
Zoro’s Strengths
Zoro grew to become a great swordsman and he was even mistaken to be a Samurai.
He has a daring attitude that made him excel in combat. He, however, acquired some demons in the process.
Zoro wields three swords and is a champion in Santōryū (Three Swords Style). In combat, he wields the third sword in his mouth.
As a youth, he could lift heavy things and even buildings. He had intense punch strikes and he could even manipulate swords to do whatever he wanted.
After his training with Mihawk, it was apparent that his strengths had increased.
Zoro became faster, swift, stronger, and he had gained mastery over his strengths, including the demons in him.
With just a single strike, he could cut through thick trees.
He defeated strong enemies like gigantic creatures, Hody Jones, Logia, etc., and defended himself before stronger ones like King Neptune, Sanji, Luffy, etc.
He has agility, speed and a tremendous enduring spirit.
He could endure strikes and cuts from opponents without falling to the ground. He was also a swift swimmer.
Physically, without a sword, he could hold his ground.
External powers possessed Zoro’s spirit. When he fights using the Kiki Kyutoryu – an Asura fighting technique – a dark presence saturates him.
When this happens, he appears to have three heads and six arms, resembling the Asura god. With this skill, he can fight comfortably with nine swords.
People referred to him as a beast, and it was apparent a higher power possessed him.
Also, the cursed Sandai Kitetsu sword opened him up to more demonic possession that unleashed when he was angry.
Zoro could come up with tactics at any time, even in the middle of a battle.
Zoro had keen senses. He could detect the enemy’s presence or any other foreign presence before anyone else could.
Zoro is an ardent believer in the sword’s master code of honor. He will not use any illegal means to win a fight, and he openly admits his weakness to his opponent.
He never runs away from a fight or exaggerates his abilities.
Zoro has a soft spot for women and children. He does not like hurting them.
Zoro uses the blunt side of his sword to fight weaker adversaries. He is still able to cause damage with the sword’s dull side due to his enormous strength.
Zoro’s Weaknesses
With all his skills and abilities, Zoro had some striking weaknesses.
Zoro is very impatient and short-tempered.
He is also terrible at geography. He can quickly lose his way, whether in familiar or unfamiliar territory.
Even when an enemy is in front of him, he takes a different direction entirely.
One of Zoro’s most significant weaknesses is that he cannot walk straight, making his crew members always look out for him.
He reacts in humorous ways, making him appear unserious. He also has animalistic tendencies, which make him behave like an insane person.
When he’s not training, he is usually idle or sleeping.
Zoro’s stubborn and daring attitude makes him rely on chance and luck. He took the cursed Kintetsu sword to check if the curse will have any effect on him. Unfortunately, it did.
Zoro is very reckless and careless about himself during battles. This attitude made him acquire multiple injuries, which he could have avoided.
His anger sometimes gets the better part of him, and he does a lot of damage before realizing himself.
Zoro’s Personality
Zoro is tough, stern-looking and highly principled.
He rarely shows off his emotions, except anger. He cried and laughed a few times.
Even in the face of sorrow or danger, he kept a calm, indifferent look.
He loves his crew members but will not hesitate to yell at them when they misbehave in his eyes.
He advises them on how they should behave, and although he doesn’t do it lovingly, he ends up being right.
Zoro is a sensitive person and feels embarrassed when put up to do something stupid.
He also has a high level of perception and excellent leadership skills. He is committed and loyal to Luffy and will not fail to fight back anyone who betrays him.
However, he has trouble trusting people, including members of his crew. That changed later as he began to learn to trust others.
Zoro’s hobbies during his free time from training or sleeping are drinking and fishing. However, he never gets drunk for some strange reason.
Zoro is kind-hearted to both friends and strangers. He could risk his life to save or help someone he doesn’t know.
He is also very humble, mainly when he receives appreciation for the help rendered. He is honest and would not intentionally harm weak ones.
He hates oppressors with passion and would go all out to defeat them.
He stands firm and defiant in the face of death, unlike others. His strength is scary as he seems not to be afraid of anything or anyone.
He ties his bandana around his head when faced with a severe battle.
When he is not fighting, Zoro is either sleeping, lifting weights, or training.
